Philadelphia Sixers Courtside Stadium Engagement
When our client Renise and Steve told us they wanted to do an engagement shoot at the Sixers stadium, we initially though it was going to be just the typical outside of the stadium just get the stadium from the outside kind of thing.
Little did we know that we were going to be at courtside during an important time of year for basketball fans and followers alike, the end of the regular season and the Philadelphia 76ers are in the verge of making a playoff run! Being in-sync with our clients, and them having access to courtside, we were able to secure our shoot to happen inside of the stadium!
Well come to think of it, being a Ryan Eda Photography client, you would have to expect uniqueness, and out-of-the-box in every level of working with us, not just imagery. So planning for a everything we have done with this shoot, is an exciting thing that goes on all the time for our clients.
As an avid basketball fan myself (and a skilled baller I should say so myself, ahem! 😉 – ha ha), it was an amazing experience for my clients and me.
Most fans that go the stadium know that there are so many events that happen at the Wells Fargo Stadium, from concerts, Ice Hockey games, to College & NBA Basketball games. So the place would have to be set-up for a basketball game on order for us to schedule the shoot. With that being said, we don’t have all day at courtside to ourselves. We had a limited time to get our shoot done.
As we got to the stadium, we got escorted by the wonderful Sixers staff to courtside, where all the fun ensued, 🙂 now on to more images!
We maximized our time here so we got different looks and used different parts of the court.
I had a vision for a creative signature image that involved the Sixers them colors and would have that romantic sporty feel, and this was the result.
We set-up our own light that had a red and blue colors to it. It created accent lighting that was true to the Sixers colors. You can see how cute our couple was with their matching Jersey’s and Air Force one’s! Also, in post, we had the shot clock reflect their wedding date. And believe it or not, was our client’s idea!
For the next part of the shoot, we went across the street to FDR park which is a favorite of ours to photograph. It is such a great park with a good amount of foliage for any season and has a skatepark in it that could be a grungy urban look to it.
Since we already had the sporty look done, we stayed in this part of the park so we can have some greenery and foliage in the images. Our couple did an outfit change and here are some of their favorites!
That time of the year, spring was about to end and luckily for us, there were still a few Cherry Blossom trees that we were able to use as elements in the images.
And for the finale of our shoot, we headed to Old City Philadelphia, at an area called the Merchant Exchange Building! It is a very, very, VERY popular location amongst wedding parties for portraits and all other kinds of photo shoots as it has a very European look to it. And the cobblestones really give the area a nice touch to it that you wouldn’t even realize you were somewhere in downtown Philly.
Majorty of the reason we picked this spot is our client wanted something that matched their Parisian theme for their wedding and given the distance from where we were, this was the best option for us.
Their last set of outfit were just perfect! Our bride rocked a teal dress (with pockets!) and our groom with the grey and black suit and tie combo which was really a dapper look. To end this blog post is our signature image for this part of the shoot which was beautifully printed as a metal wall art. Which we hope to be seen displayed at their wedding reception! Stay tuned for their wedding blog as it will be another stunner!
