Engagement Sessions – What is it all about
If you’re a bride-to-be, or just got engaged and is not familiar with engagement sessions or the point of it all, this blog post might help shed some light to what it all entails.
So let’s start! First off would be that the engagement shoots are a way for the bride and groom to promote and market their wedding date. Images resulting from the session are often used for “save the date cards” or nowadays to have it on social media site for everyone in their circle to see. Also, if they hired a really artistic photographer, the images can be used as printed displays at their wedding reception, or have a guest signing book where the images can be in a beautiful story format and, have enlarge wall prints for their home to complement any wall print they would have from their wedding day to have balance and diversity in their decorations for their home.
It is also a time to have some relaxed images of the bride and groom, because come the wedding day, things are really, I mean really fast-paced. The essence of it is also capturing a natural side of their relationship, either they are quirky, casual, playful etc. mostly portraying them in their dating period. That is why a lot of the engagement sessions you will see are themed. It is symbolism of the things the couple enjoys doing together or, any place or setting that is special to them.
Majority of the time, this is the first time a couple will be photographed professionally. If, they did so hired a pro photographer to do this for them. This session will immensely help the couple ease out of being in front of the camera before their wedding day and actually learn the photographers style of shooting so there will be no surprises come their wedding day. Note, this is assuming they hired the same photographer for their engagement session and wedding day. Which makes the session a good test run because if they do not like the results of the session, most likely they will also not like the wedding images. Mainly because the photographer’s shooting style will still be the same.
So with that said, they would still enough have time (granted they booked the photographer a year out, which why they should) to find the right photographer for them and have the peace of mind that their wedding images will be what they expected. Which also works in for the photographer in a way that he or she will be able to meet his or her clients expectation in terms of the imagery that will be provided.
With the fall season coming up soon, it is usually one of the best times to have a session done, especially if your wedding is in the summer. The beautiful colors of the turning leaves really would stand out.
There you have it, just a few insights on why engagement sessions should be considered by every bride. And how it can enhance their wedding experience and make the start of their lives together even more special. From here, every bride should decide if that is something they can add to their whole wedding experience or not.
