Another aspect about the wedding planning is how your groom will look on the big day. Wait what? How about the groom? Hey, we need to be looking our best too. 🙂 For the groom, the core of the wedding attire is the suit/tux/jacket, then and the bow tie, shoes, all the other details accent his look.

Getting the suit or tux to fit correctly will be a key component. You don’t want your groom getting bothered all day with a bad fitting suit/tux/jacket. It would just take away from the enjoyment of the wedding day if he is uncomfortable or feeling boxy in his wedding day outfit. Even if your groom is not a suit guy, the look can still be recycled to fit a more casual attire by being creative with combinations. That is why we are highly encouraging for things to be done right the first time. Unless your groom plans on getting married again… just kidding! Let’s get to it.

To that, here are some tips about picking out the right tux or suit for him.

  • Usually, rented ones do not fit properly. Renting may have worked for his high school prom. But for one of biggest days of your lives, it is fair to say the both the bride and groom have to look good and nail the fit. But it doesn’t have to break the bank. An inexpensive great fitting suit will always outweigh a branded one that doesn’t fit good, and believe us, your groom will feel like a million bucks!

  • The colors of the suit must be in line with the color palette of theme of the wedding to make it cohesive. Most of the time, black is very neutral and the go to, but there is certainly more stylishly rewarding to go out of the common black suit. May it be in a dark blue, grey or a white tux.

  • Make sure that the shirt goes out about and inch to and inch and a half coming out at the sleeves of the jacket or suit. This is for the  details like the cufflinks to show and help the look of tux or suit be framed.

  • When buttoning the jacket, there shouldn’t be any strain and should be easy to do. If not, that’s too tight. On the same token, the distance between your body and the button should not be more that a fists size.

The Merion Groom

  • The pads on the shoulders shouldn’t be sticking out or protruding past them, it also should be a snug fit. Looking like a football player might sound like a cool idea, but won’t really go so well with the type of day it is on a wedding. So we want the should pads to be looking just right.

Remember, it is more important to have the suit fitting nicely and the accenting details will elevate the look. When your groom is feeling great and confident, the more he will enjoy the day with friends and family, because let’s face it, the saying goes “Look good, feel good.” Trust us, we know! 😉
